Linda Heyworth began cutting the loaf of bread, trying to distract herself from the rapid thumps that moved through the hole house. Over the past few hours, noises such as indistinct whispering echoed through the house, and Linda, convinced she was merely having a bad night, had tried to block out the sounds.

Thunder rumbled, startling her, and she let out a gasp as the knife that she was using dropped to the floor. As she reached down to get it, it moved. Only an inch, barely noticeable, and a sensible person would have ignored it as a delusion.

Linda slowly rose, swallowing harshly. She nearly screamed as multiple cupboards flew open, then close. Thunder crashed, and lightning flashed. And, in that second of pure terror, she thought she heard a whisper, "He still loves me...."

Linda didn't believe in the supernatural. In fact, she hadn't questioned the exsistence of such a thing until now. She knew the obvious signs from the books and occasional horror movies. And she prayed that this...thing....was not violent.

In answer, to her unspoken question, the knife, still on the floor, suddenly flew right past her head.

"Even what I did...he still loves me. I know he does..." the voice whispered invisibly.

"Leave me alone!" Linda shouted. The voice suddenly shrieked angrily, and a window shattered glass across the counter and floor in the kitchen.

Ok, Linda thought, bad idea.

"What do you want?" Without the anger in her voice, only fear trembled within.

"Shh."

Linda's heart pounded. Desperation and horror seeped through her mind. And the eerie silence wasn't helping.

"GO AWAY! LEAVE ME ALONE!" she screamed, and in a sudden flash of light, she felt herself falling to the floor. She huddled into a ball in the corner, shielding herself.

Thunder roared, almost responding to the ghost's feelings, and lightning flashed repeatedly as the cupboard doors slammed open and shut. For a short second, it felt as if an invisible force was pushing in on the house, making the window lean in, just waiting to shatter into a thousand pieces.

And, almost in slow motion, the glass did shatter, just not in the normal way. She felt the glass peck into her little area, just nearly missing her skin. And then it stopped. But relief didn't dare come.

When only the sound of thunder and rain could be heard, Linda raised her head to see a blond woman in tattered jeans and a fancy white shirt that was covered in blood. Her eyes, which were suspiciously once green, were now soulless holes.

In her hand, was a knife, and the girl gripped it so tightly, as if the knife could take all the pain.

Her gray, dead face turned into a fierce snarl, and she screamed into Linda's face, raising the knife as rain and glass swirled around her.

The last thing Linda was aware of was the girl's face.

"He still loves me..."
This was my first attempt on a real horror one-shot. Hmm, I think I did pretty good, but lets just see :P
